We have notification of two cases of Pertussis in our community. As you may know, this year California is experiencing the largest incidence of Pertussis in the last 50 years; over a thousand cases and six deaths in infants so far in 2010. Walla Walla County Health Department
Walla Walla County Health Department (WWCHD) is a part of the Public Health Network and works closely with State and Federal agencies and provides programs and services at the local level.  The WWCHD also partners with community organizations in a number of ways to support essential services.  The local Board of Health, which consists of the Board of County Commissioners and the health officer, governs the WWCHD.

The Walla Walla County Health Department is funded by a combination of user fees, county funds, state and federal grants.  There is no dedicated funding source for public health in Washington State.  The WWCHD 2009 budget is about $2.3 million dollars.
