Deputy Sheriff and Corrections Officer Positions

Entry Level Applicants

The Walla Walla County Civil Service Commission manages a portion of the hiring process for commissioned deputies and corrections officers. The Walla Walla County Civil Service Commission uses Public Safety Testing to facilitate the testing process.Do NOT submit an Application for Employment to the Sheriff's Office.

Individuals interested in being considered for an entry level position and a career in law enforcement with the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office should first complete the processes that Public Safety Testing has available. To do so please click on the icon below. Part of that process allows for scores to be forwarded to the individual's agencies of choice. The Civil Service Commission accepts those scores and keeps them on a rank list with other scores they have received.  Applicants can get their scores from Public Safety Testing. They are not given to the Sheriff's Office. This is the conclusion of the first phase of the process.

The Sheriff may call for a list of candidates from the Civil Service Commission at any time. Entry level applicants are encouraged to complete the Public Safety Testing process at any time so that their name (depending on their score) may be added to the list given to the Sheriff's Office to be considered for an oral interview.  Applicants wishing to be considered for both commissioned deputy and corrections officer positions should complete the testing requirements for a commissioned deputy as it can be applied to requests to be on corrections officer lists as well.

Depending on an applicant's cumulative score from Public Safety Testing they may be requested to participate in an oral interview with members of Sheriff's Office and the Civil Service Commission.  The score from the oral interview is combined with the score from the public safety testing and then ranked on a perpetual list of applicants qualified for hire. The current lists are available below.

Walla Walla County Crime Analyst Technician List

Walla Walla County Jail Corrections Officer List

If your name is on either of the above lists and you no longer wish to be considered for employment please email sheriff@co.walla-walla.wa.us and the Sheriff's Office will forward that information to the Walla Walla County Civil Service Commission so that your name can be removed.
