Making a difference in the future of children by intervening early during the first years of their lives

As parents you are the most important person/people in your child’s life. Children grow and change rapidly during their first three years.

Think of your child and how he/she is growing. You know your child best. Notice things like how and when your child smiles, sits up, walks, talks, or holds a cup.

What you are seeing is how your child is growing through the different developmental stages. When a child has a delay in development, services are available.

The Walla Walla County Infant Toddler Early Intervention Program coordinates both a county and statewide effort to help families connect to these services.

Early Intervention may help you find services you need for your child and help you understand your child’s developmental growth. These services are designed to meet the developmental needs of each eligible child and the needs of the family related to enhancing the child’s development.

Please contact FRC noted above for more information 509-524-2920

Frequently Asked Questions…

Question:  What is Early Intervention

Answer:  A collection of services families may need for their infants or toddlers who may have delays in their development or who have disabilities.

Question:  What if I have questions about a child’s development?

Answer:   Our Family Resources Coordinator (FRC)  will help you access early intervention services your child may need.  The FRC will give you information on available child care providers, case workers, preschool staff and anyone working with infants and toddlers.  You will have access to a quick and organized way  to recognize possible problem areas with your child’s vision, hearing and/or development through screening and assessments.
