WALLA WALLA COUNTY SEEKING APPLICANTS TO FILL POSITIONS ON THE COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD

Walla Walla County is seeking applicants to fill up to eight open positions on the combined Human Services Advisory Board (HSAB). The HSAB is responsible for assisting the Department of Human Services (DHS) in determining needs and setting priorities for services. The HSAB assists DHS in evaluating and monitoring the Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities plans and service delivery. The HSAB provides recommendations to DHS and Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners in each of the service delivery programs. HSAB members should have some background, personal experience and/or knowledge in Mental Health, Chemical Dependency, and/or Developmental Disability issues. Time commitments to this board include one afternoon board meeting per month (usually the third Tuesday of the month). Efforts will be made to seat mental health consumers, developmentally disabled consumers, and chemically dependent consumers in recovery on the board. Board members must be residents of Walla Walla County, be willing to attend monthly afternoon board meetings, and have no personal financial interest in County funded programs or other potential conflict of interest (i.e. employee of County contracted provider).

Application forms may be obtained from the County website (www.co.walla-walla.wa.us, or the Walla Walla County Commissioners’ Office, County Public Health and Legislative Building, 314 W. Main/P.O. Box 1506, Walla Walla, or by calling the Commissioners’ Office at (509) 524-2505. Application packets may also be obtained from the Department of Human Services (DHS), 1520 Kelly Place/P.O. Box 1595, Walla Walla, or by calling the DHS office at (509) 524-2920. Interested persons are encouraged to call or email (wwcocommissioners@co.walla-walla.wa.us) questions regarding these openings.

Completed applications must be returned to the county commissioners’ office by Friday, February 26, 2010. Applications may be dropped off, mailed, or emailed.   As a part of the selection process, applicants should expect to be interviewed.  The Board of County Commissioners will make final decisions regarding appointments to the Human Services Advisory Board.
