Patrol
Patrol Deputies are responsible for covering approximately 960 miles of county roads throughout the 1260 square miles of Walla Walla County. The 15 patrol deputies respond to criminal as well as civil complaints, investigate crimes and traffic accidents, enforce traffic laws and serve civil papers. They are assisted in this task by 14 reserve deputies.

Investigations
Most investigations are actually completed by the patrol officer assigned to the initial call. However, the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office has two detectives assigned strictly to investigations, one devoted to narcotic-related offenses and the other to assisting patrol deputies in general criminal investigations, as well as working major investigations
