The mission of the Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Coalition is to design and implement county wide programs that promote safe driving through community efforts and partnerships.  Efforts will be led to reduce serious injury and fatality crashes by making our roadways safer for those traveling in Walla Walla County. The program activities of the Traffic Safety Coalition are open to anyone in the Walla Walla Valley.  For more information on programs or meeting times, contact the program coordinator.

Programs

  • DUI Victim Memorial Walkway: Dedicated to those who were taken too soon as a result of a collision caused by someone driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, the Walkway is located at the Mill Creek Sports Complex on Tausick Way in Walla Walla.

  • DUI Memorial Sign Project: A grassroots program joining the Department of Transportation and citizens of Washington in ongoing efforts to combat drunk driving.

  • DUI Victim Impact Panels: Presentations open to court referred attendees or those with special permission from the program coordinator.

  • Every 15 Minutes Program: An intense program designed to relate to students the responsibility they have to drive sober and safely every trip, every time.

  • Tipsy Taxi:  A Coalition sponsored designated driver program servicing Walla Walla and College Place for the last 12 years.  Each Christmas season, for approximately 2 ½ weeks, volunteers sign up to cover one night to take people home who need the use of a designated driver.

  • Child Passenger Safety Team: The Traffic Safety Coalition works with nationally certified car seat technicians in Walla Walla County who help provide education and hand-on help to parents and caregivers on the correct installation of children in their car seats.  Parent groups and businesses who transport children may host a child passenger safety information class by contacting the Traffic Safety Coalition.
