Unclaimed remains are remains of a deceased person that have not been claimed by their family. The care of these remains has been left to Walla Walla County, through the Coroner's Office. Each of these individuals has been cremated. In an effort to locate the families of these individuals the Coroner's Office is providing lists of both adult and infant unclaimed remains. These lists are updated monthly to remove claimed remains.
Information about these individuals is not readily available other than their date of cremation. It is assumed the date of their death would have been in preceding week. The Walla Walla County Coroner's Office possesses remains dating back to the 1940's and as recent as 2012. Through the help of the College Place VFW #466 the Office has identified nine veterans on the unclaimed remains list. These veterans received burial with honors at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
If you have any information regarding the next of kin for these individuals, please contact the Coroner’s Office at the above information. There is no charge associated with claiming remains from the office in Walla Walla, WA. If shipping is requested, a charge of $50 will apply. A photo ID will be required of any individual obtaining remains.
