DEFERRED FINDING OPTION
Please read below to see if you qualify for this option.
Drivers are eligible for a Deferred Finding only once every 7 years in the State of Washington.
CDL holders are NOT eligible for the deferred finding option.
- You may request to resolve your infraction with a Deferred Finding to minimize the effect on your driving record. This process enters you into a 12-month probation period starting from the date of approval by a judge. If you are not found to have committed any new traffic infractions within the 12-month period (in the State of Washington) the deferred infraction will be dismissed.
- Revocation of the Deferred Finding: If you are found to have committed a new traffic infraction (In the State of Washington) within the 12-month deferral period, the Deferred Finding will be revoked. The Deferred infraction will then appear on your driving history as “committed”. You will not be eligible to use this deferred finding option for another seven years. You will be required to pay the full amount that was noted on your original infraction.
The fee for a Deferred Finding is $125.00, unless a lower amount is set by the court, and is paid in place of the original amount owed on the infraction.
THIS TOTAL AMOUNT MUST BE PAID IMMEDIATELY AFTER A DEFERRED FINDING IS GRANTED.
