About GIS

What is GIS?
GIS, or Geographic Information Systems, is a computer-based framework that allows users to view, analyze, and edit geospatial data. Here at Walla Walla County, the GIS Department stores and maintains geographic data while also making it available to the public through online and printed maps.

How do I request data?
To request GIS data in shapefile, csv, kml, or file geodatabase format, please contact the GIS Department at gis@co.walla-walla.wa.us. There are also a handful of datasets available for download on the Interactive Map Hub.

How often is the data updated?
The frequency in which these datasets are updated depends on a number of factors, but generally tax lot information is updated once per month while other datasets depend on city annexations, road construction, and building construction.
