Walla Walla County Solid Waste Advisory Committee

Under RCW 70.95, each county in Washington State is required to implement a Solid Waste Management Plan and convene a Solid Waste Advisory Committee to review waste management policies and needs within the jurisdiction.

The Walla Walla County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) is comprised of a minimum of 9 members representing a wide variety of interests including incorporated municipalities, industry, citizens at-large, and environmental interests. SWAC members are appointed by the Walla Walla Board of County Commissioners to a three year term.

The City of Walla Walla has been authorized by the Interlocal Agreement for the Continued Coordination of Regional Pollution Prevention and Waste Prevention Programs dated June 23, 2008 to act on the County’s behalf to update and implement the Walla Walla County Solid Waste Management Plan.

Currently, the SWAC is undertaking the review of the 1994 Solid Waste Management Plan.

SWAC meetings are held monthly and are open to the public. Please follow this link for documents as well as information on the next meeting date and location.
